Proponents say E85 is Environmentally Friendly, Fights Global Warming, and Can Reduce our Dependence on Fossil Fuel. But Don't Hold That Against It. HOT RODDERS: IT CAN ALSO BE AN IDEAL PERFORMANCE FUEL
![]() For Hot Rod Drag week "this year Mike Anello of St. Louis, Missouri converted his turbocharged Fairmont from 87 Octane pump gas to E85 ethanol" just to be a little different." he says. On gas the Ford ran a best of 9.67. On E85 it tore out the Powerflide's gearset at 900 feet and still ran a 9.26. |
![]() Anello's Dart-blocked 401ci Ford runs at 18 psi of boost with a turbocharger from a 12.5L Detroit Diesel. The carburetor and belt drive fuel pump are from C&S Specialties calibrated by Anello to operate on E85. Mike is employed by C&S Specialties. |

C&S Carburetors have been the ONLY brand of carburetor raced by the Vahsholtz Team ranging from the 800 alcohol in 1977 to the 800 and 900 cfm alcohol billets today.
